About
Lorna Lucas is an artist and designer based in Manchester. Since graduating with first class honours in Three Dimensional Design in 1997 she has been continuously designing bespoke furniture for private and commercial clients. Her wide portfolio of designs is testament to her original style, attention to detail and proportion and her distinctive flourish with colour.
Her most popular design to date is the eponymous Wideboy loveseat. Designed and conceived in 2004 , this is a flamboyant oversized armchair which combines traditional detailing with modern dimensions and fabrics, a trademark in Lorna’s work.
Lorna continually sources vintage items, often combining them with modern materials to produce something with a new identity while retaining it’s history. Sourcing pieces with a certain quirkiness or which have possibilities for reinvention has been a lifelong passion. Her stock changes regularly and includes furniture, ceramics and textiles.
She is prolific and eclectic in her current work in which she indulges her passion for print, animals and colour. Her screen and photographic prints are incorporated into her customised vintage pieces and printed leather, steel, mirror and fabric are used in her accessories. Framed prints are available in a selection of sizes and the nature of her print work means that no two pieces are alike.
She is currently working on new limited edition prints , a stationery range using vintage sheet music along with individual on-off interior pieces
Lorna is available for private and bespoke commissions. Contact her for further details and to discuss your projects.
